MANAGE YOUR MAKEUP

Makeup - it's been around for centuries and for most of us it's an essential component of our daily ritual...but it can accumulate and organising it can be overwhelming so, we wanted to share our top TIDEE tips for creating some makeup calm.

Let it go

The first step when organising any area in the home is clearing the space and your makeup is no exception. Empty out all your makeup items (yes, every single one) so you can see them all clearly then start sorting all the items discarding the old, out of date (yes makeup also has a use by date) and unusable items. If you're hanging on to some lipstick from 2017 or some eye-liner that makes you look more grim than glam, it's time to get your frozen on and let it go. The general rule of thumb is if you haven't used it in 12 months then it's time to get rid of it.

Keep 'em clean

Make a habit of cleaning your brushes regularly. If you don't keep your brushes clean bacteria will build up which result in blocked pores or worse...breakouts! To avoid transferring dirt from your face to your brush and back to your face again you should wash your brushes regularly, ideally once a week. Use a drop of your cleanser on each brush, gently massage into the bristles and rinse with warm water until all the makeup and gunk is out. Leave to dry overnight on a clean dry face towel ready to use the next morning.

A place for everything

Just like all other household items your makeup also needs a home. Makeup is best stored in a cool, dry place away from moisture and direct sunlight. Invest in some functional makeup storage. We love the GODMORGON from IKEA (pictured above). It has clever little compartments perfect for storing brushes, mascaras, lipsticks - all your makeup essentials.

In the words of Audrey Hepburn "on a bad day there's always lipstick" so keeping your beauty items organised is essential and hopefully with these simple tips you will bring some calm to your makeup chaos.

Stay beautiful and TIDEE!
